Hi there I have a judder at an exact speed in what ever gear , it gives they symptoms of an unbalanced prop shaft if anyone knows what I'm describing , also symptoms of in balance wheels without steering wheel judder
it happens for about 3mph so from 49> 51
It does it more not noticeably the harder you accelerate through these speeds
It returns at 70mph !

The wheels are balanced , I have just fitted a different set and had them balanced before fitting
It had the judder with original wheels as well ,
Where shall I start looking?

Checked all susspension joints. All ok
Plus just been mot d
Also the vibration is not felt through the steering wheel

If you have L322 wheels on your p38 check you have Spigot Rings fitted. This is a common cause of vibration at certain given speeds that a lot of people overlook. Mine had it at 55 and 75mph fitted the rings and immediate fix All for £20. Not to mention its dangerous to drive without them and will cause early bearing failure!

Google this fix for more info.

With the old wheels was the vibration at the same speed of different?
And can you feel it through the wheel?

Mine does the same. It started about two months ago, when one of my front tires leaked and i drove with 0.8 bar pressure for cca 100km. That may have triggered something, dunno. Another reason that i can think of is that i've torn one of the CV gaiters when i did the wheel bearing about 5000km ago. I've glued it after about 500km when i realised that it was f**ked (and of course i didn't top up the grease, idiot.).

i take it youve checked the uj,s for play (if there is pressure on the drive system, i.e resting in gear, you wont feel the play) check it with the handbrake off and it in neutral.

i would also check the hub faces for deformation/muck which could cause the wheels to not sit perfectly flat on the hub as its supposed to.

Check the rear coupling, the one on my Classic Soft Dash was knackered and gave a horrid vibation and rumbling noise from 50mpg upwards.

Have checked
Prop uj for play front
And cleaned and regreased hub faces
I haven't checked the rear coupling ( is this a uj or a rubber donut)

UJ's by my eyes....as attached....
