Hi!

Just came back after 6000 km of travel with the P38, and I have this vibration when I am braking at speed. According to the garage, the front discs have to be replaced. I did that about 8000 km ago, and I am not a hard user of brakes. So I don't get it!

One answer: I got the brakes from Oscaro, a French online provider of auto parts, Ferrodo parts. Quite a good price, but see the result.

The garage told me it could be the ABS which is too tough on the brakes. I would like to ask you if I should go for OEM this time (Britpart?)? They are quite cheap at island4x4. Or Terrafirma?

Unusual for front discs to warp if that is what they are putting the vibration down to, much more likely to be the rears. How often do you engage ABS if you are not an hard user of brakes? That is nonsense. ABS only works if a wheel is locking.

Maybe the rear disks? I really don't know. The fact is that I had this vibration about six months ago, and that replacing the front discs completely solved the problem. Now it is here again. I was thinking that maybe the quality of the Ferrodo discs I bought online is not good. Perhaps faked parts?

When new discs and pads are fitted they need to be bedded in. NO hard braking for the first 250 miles or they can distort. Maybe you got duff bits i don't know.

I've used Ferrodo before with no issues. Could be fakes, I guess. There are so many out there now. Pagid were OK too.

You have to REALLY stamp to get the ABS on, unless you're on mud or ice. :)
