Hi Guys

I have a motor that is vibrating quite badly and it is steadily getting worse there is no missfire and the engine mountings have been changed, I have driven several TD5's and they are smoother than mine.

The vibration is prevalent throught the clutch pedal and whilst driving, as I see it there are two possibilities 1. the harmonic Damper on the front pulley or 2. the duel mass flywheel.

Can anybody throw some light on this problem with their experiences.

Ta in advance.

Check your propshafts are tight and that the UJ's line up (people strip them out and dont put them on properly), these work in a sine wave so if they are not lined up they don't cancel each other out...

It could be your flywheel beginning to disintegrate. Best catch it before it does or it will wreck the bellhousing. Yet another brilliant Land Rover idea.

I think I'd check the propshafts first as it's a tad easier. If the front propshaft hasn't been off and this has developed on it's own then it could be a propshaft universal joint wearing. I've had several Landys which have had problems with the front propshaft giving vibrations, the last case was because the previous owner had had a problem and a garage had fiitted the wrong one which was too short.
