Hi all,
I was hoping that someone may be able to help...
Over the past week or so I have been noticing an intermittent vibration that seems to start after I have been driving for around 10 miles or so. It seems to be coming from the front end and is intermittent - sometimes there, other times not. It can happen at any speed point from around 30mph to 70 mph (I've never driven faster than 70 so I can't say if it goes away above that speed) and once it starts - it continues for the remainder of the journey except that if I'm coasting downhill it seems to disappear before returning once I am using the accelerator again.
I took it to a local mechanic today who checked CV joints, suspension (front and rear), tyres and all came up ok. I had the prop removed a few weeks ago to save fuel so we can rule that out.
After all of these checks, the mechanic (who isn't a Land Rover independent) suggested that it may be the internal driveshafts in the gearbox.
Has anyone had experience of this? If so is it economical to repair or likely to see my freebie take a one way trip to the scrapyard.
Thanks in advance.
