I thought I'd try here but I think I already know the answer (hgf)....
Driving around town normally temp is fine. Hit the A roads for a little while and sometimes the temp will rocket right up to the red, slow down and it'll drop back to normal. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't.
Radiator pipes are fairly solid both top and bottom. It has been bled a few times as per land rover manual with still no joy.
When up to normal operating temp the cap from expansion tank can be removed and lots of coolant will be ejected. A lot more than normal it seems.
It has had a new water pump, new coolant, new p gasket, and new hoses.
I am going to do a bromothymol blue test at the weekend to see if exhaust gasses are getting into coolant. But from the bubbles and volcano effect I am guessing this is the case.
It is not loosing coolant nor is it go the mayo effect going on in the oil.
I'll report back once test is completed but rock hard hoses are giving me the shivers
