Hi my P38 ECU has stopped connecting to my laptop or LR diagnostic tool via the OBD !

Has been working fine for the last 3 years, have just changed a height sensor and was going to re calibrate the suspension settings but could not get connected so here is what I have done to try and remedy this problem.

Checked all fuses
Replaced relays
Cleaned loom connectors in footwell
Cleaned EAS ECU connection under passenger seat
Swapped out ECU

Still not connecting

I have run out of ideas can anybody help ?

Thanks Fanatic I have dropped the passenger footwell shut and removed the OBD connector and cleaned the contacts with WD40 and toothbrush as there was a little green contamination but still not working ! any other ideas im really struggling !

My p38 distant memory, but most diagnostic have earth and live feed- RAVE should tell you and which fuse to check

Yes, never use WD40, should be using quality contact cleaner. Try cleaning with correct cleaner, may help.

Well im glad we have managed to sort out the WD40 to be or not to be ! Now do you have any thoughts to the actual problem ? Im at my wits end !

I had a similar problem recently - couldn't communicate with the EAS ECU - after loads of checking, I narrowed it down to a faulty delay timer relay (it's a tall black one under the pass seat towards the door side, move the seat right back and you can reach it) not powering the ECU.

Quick and easy way to check this is replace it with one of the standard green 5 pin relays from the main fusebox.

Bingo! back in business - I didn't even have to plug the laptop in to clear faults.

Good luck.

Thanks Alaistair I m going to try that this morning ! its been driving me bonkers over the weekend so If this does not work I have booked a morning at my Indy LR dealer who is a great bloke and very knowledgeable but even he cant think of anything of the top of his head that would cause this ! Just seen the 10th Anniversary Party which im thinking of giving a go
