Evening everyone. Hope your surviving the heat.
This week, im about to get stuck into the axles on the P38a, 1997 2.5 DT.
The front axle needs one CV joint and boot, so im doing both. Ill be in there anyway so ill change the ball joints as well and all this began because it was time to do the discs and pads, so ill do them too.
The rear axle will get new discs pads and calipers, but having just taken the rear wheels off I noticed that the OSR disc back plate is very damp with oil, inside and out. Its been "sweating" for about a decade but never enough to fail an MOT. It looks like it has deteriorated now so I might as well sort it while i've got it stripped. Could someone tell me whats likely to be causing that oil sweating?
