Hello Land Rover Freaks

Okay, 'What have I done to my Land Rover Today' is another thread but I thought I would just check my vehicles tax status 'online' only to find that my Landy isn't taxed. Now, funnily enough, when I bought it I insured it and taxed it before leaving the 'vendors' location. 305 Quid lighter in my skyrocket I drove home to Scotland from Huddersfield.

Now, that was back in June.....and after paying for a years road fund find out that when checking today, that car hasn't been taxed since the day I bought it. DVLA have debited my account and the payments for the car, insurance and road fund are all in my statement like ducks in a row.

I used the green slip from the V5 thingy to tax the car...have just sent them a polite enquiry as to what has gone wrong and how can I fix it......via their online facility.

As I work in Spain, I don't get back to the UK that much and my pregnant daughter has been using the car and even then thats rarely....anyone else experienced such an issue with taxing their vehicle or anything similar.

Usually rate the DVLA and there online/telephone services highly (believe me they are far better than anything else in Europe/barring 'Das Reich'......)

BTW....my 'Landy' is a 'Gay Lander'....

Slaggings welcome.

Not had any issues with taxing and other gov stuff online. Before you do anything else, wait to hear from them, it's possibly just a glitch which they can fix, or if you're paranoid someone could have stolen your identity .... ;)

Whilst I know we're a good forum with extremely knowledgeable people, the gov are a different kettle of Pilchards ... and will only do things in certain ways. They're getting better, certainly in my experience, but even the best system can have problems occasionally ..

Thanks for the advice...I'm very much the same regards their online efficiency stuff....when I recount this to my 'foreign' friends they think I'm 'full of it' but the truth is, this is the first issue I have ever had.

Don't think Identity theft is an issue unless, by some freak of nature I have taxed some lucky 'chukkers' black 'gay lander' with a similar registration and identical V5 16 digit number.....Stranger things have happened...

'I'm not saying it's aliens.....'

'BUT IT'S ALIENS!!'

When I have done the tax online, I have received an email to show it is done and I keep a hard copy of this in the car until I see the website update and show I have tax.

Cheers

Yes, online I have not had an issue TBH but I called the 'Tax a Car' service and everything seemed to go through very smoothly. Charged my account etc. Certainly a LOT quicker that insuring the car which I had to do before hand. Think that took about 40 minutes?

'Anyhoo' I'm sure it will be sorted soon. It was only a casual look at when the MOT was due that I found this out. I'm flying into Glasgow this afternoon(from Malaga) and tomorrow I will be in the Midlands for a meeting.....I have hired a car for this but would maybe have felt better in a 4 X 4 (of sorts) for any possiblitiy of hazardous driving.

It's a meeting I have to be at and then the next day...hospital in Dundee.......
