HI,
To the four bee four forum.
I run a 300 tdi on Veggie/deisel 60/40 10ml of Acetone mix.
Lavvly exhaust smell.
No probs to date,have fitted pre-heaters though,which i believe is a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1995 n xs 2.5 tdi 130,000 fully montied k's
Just ordered EGR(Extremelydiss Gustin****idupp Ringpieces)
Blankety Blank Plate and matching pipe.

Question??
I have replaced
1/ Reverse lamp switch
2/ Bias plate

But reverse lights will not remain on, unless i keep the gearstick pressed firmly back??????

Any tech Info would be helpfull.

Welcome to looney tunes!

The acetone makes your whole tank liable to fuel duty and isn't necessary. The preheater is not a must at that ratio, i know it will work fine up to at least 75/25 without. There's a good reason for joining up - i've saved you a fortune already!

Tech info: Press gearstick firmly back :D

THING IS I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT RATIOS
WITHOUT PREHEATERS IT WONT PLAY:mad:

ACETONE THINS EVERYTHING DOWN TO STOP POLYMERISATION;)

WHY DOES IT MAKE ME LIABLE FOR DUTY?????

Rubbish, it will be fine up to 75% without heating - probably up to 100% when it's not freezing but definitely FINE up to 75% veg.

Acetone suddenly makes the mix not biodiesel any more so you won't have to pay duty on the diesel that;s already in there but the veg oil will not be biodiesel because of the additive so you will have to pay 53p (i think) a litre on it. Pure veg oil is almost a concession by the government who class it as biodiesel for the purposes of the duty, but add acetone or petrol to it and they don't!

No, it's amazin - there's a hill near me called Penpillick which i used to struggle in 3rd to go up, at about 25 at the top - i can now do it in 5th and i actually overtook something on it yesterday :D:D:D

Am getting a bit annoyed by the noise the chavvy filter makes the turbo make, it's a bit boy racer and i prefer the noise of me stereo, but Yella has kindly supplied an alternative so hopefully i'll get that wired in and then not have to worry about water in the engine too much!

you overtook going up a hill in 5th ?

you sure whatever you overtook wasnt parked ?

No, admittedly i had to change down to 4th to actually accelerate but once it got there 5th held it easily at about 55! Tis like the good old days of a normal car, only better coz it's a landy!

May i ask how you know that it is RUBBISH.
Have you driven my landy or tried to start it on a F$£"in high veggie content
IT WILL NOT HAVE IT!!!!! IT DIES!!!!!!!!!

No, sorry, of course not! I can only speak for how it should be so if there is something different or wrong with yours then of course it may be different! I can only go on my and others on this forums experience!

The stuff about the tax is right though so it might be worth you finding out how to convert it properly to thin it, then it is all legal.

You are right on the money with the acetone mate.
If i could run my landy on 100% veggie it would be doin it tomorrow.
As it is, if i put too much in(and i have experimented over the course of 3 months) it has no power and is a real F*&^ Pig to get goin in the morning.

I know that Bosch is a winner over Lucas e.t.c.
I did have a real bad experience with a Fiat Doblo JTD 1.9.
The whole engine went tits up with high veggie content.

That was different,i didnt love it like melandee(it's a landee mans thing, im sure you understand)

odenne never used veg oil what mix there is that much sh*t flying about i have not got a clue
With your 300 (or a 200) you should be fine running mostly veg but it seems to depend a bit! If you've never done it before, start at 25%, move towards 50% and if any ill effects or change in smoothness or running then stop there but you should get beyond 75% without any detriment (you may notice the engine seems quiter and smoother and a little more power but you will certainly notice that the exhaust smells like a fish and chip shop!)

I was running a TD at 50-50 for ages and it was absolutely fine, lots run tdi's at high ratios OK - i would advise using neat supermarket rapeseed oil as it is the thinnest and has no water content - if you use used oil you will need to filter it well and take the water content out.

If you add anything else like petrol or acetone then you lose out on the duty free element, but if you just thin it with diesel then it's OK. (officially!)

Apparently the TD fuel pump (a Lucas pump) isn't as favourable to the thickness of veg oil as the TDi (bosch) pumps - although i never had any probs.

You'll find loads of info here and google if you do a search. Good luck and happy cooking!

ps the JTD engine is a common rail engine (i think - it's the same one in the Alfas isnt it?) in which case it won't cope with the thickness of the diesel and the return temperature polymerises the fuel which clogs the engine up. Basic bog standard landy engines are best!

Rapeseed is what i am using.
Mixed with deisel(ahem)
Exhaust fumes are to die for, makes you crave fish and chips.
Just removed e.g.r today, blanked it off.
Cleaned out engine breather.
Cleaned air filter.
De sooted the turbo inlet, fair bit of ****ty gucky sticky oil there also.
Took it for a blast,wwwwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooosssssssssssssshhhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you should of heard the rush of air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was a definite extra surge, progressive.
Having swivel pin bearings/bushes and wheel bearings replaced tomorrow,as well as oil and filter, just done deisel filter.
Need two new boots on the front.

Thats it for now and thanks for reading.
