just wondering does anyone else find their landy run better on veg oil mix rather than just diesel.
been running mine on 60/40 veg oil diesel for past few months found it runs better lot smoother and a bit quicker :)

what do other people think

how are you mixing it?

do you put, say 20l of DERV in at the pump then drive home and fire 30l of veg oil into the tank?

I'd consider doing it, but don't do enough miles to run the risk of causing any clogging up/damage

mines always sounded n felt far smoother on veg, been running it for 10 years in various landys

cheers steve

yes thats what i do , i do about 500 miles a week saves me a fortune

Does the type of engine have an impact? I have a 2.5 TD5 Diesel... 60L tank, so, would you say putting 25L Diesel and 35L Veg oil do good or bad?

I was led to believe it was only 300tdi and 200tdi engines which could run the veg oil as no ECU. I use it in my 300tdi Defender when I can get a good deal on it. During the summer 30 litres of diesel v 20 litres of veg oil, increasing diesel to oil mix as it gets colder. Diesel in first, then pour the oil in and drive for a few miles to mix it up a bit. Agree, it seems to run much smoother with the oil in although I seem to lose some top end power, not that I'm bothered as rarely get on a motorway

you'll lose a fair bit of power as it has less calorific value than derv.

proper way would be a two tank system so you start/stop on derv, else it can wax up when cold in the pipes and can gum stuff up in the engine.

Veg. oil gums up everything that gets hot, as it breaks down easily. It might be OK mixed with derv, but I still wouldn't trust it
