Hi Guys

As quite a few on here have replaced their own VCU's I'm wondering if the packing that your VCU was sent in was reusable for return of your original unit ?

I will be going to Bell's for the VCU when I get sorted but just wondering about the packing as I live in Ireland and our coriers etc arent the most gentle you could find :)

TIA

Mine came very well packed and I just reused the box and filling, should be ok, I did use loads of Duck tape round it before sticking the label on it though lol

Thanks Britishwardog

That sounds like a reasonable situation and will save me constructing a box to return the used item in.

Sounds like I need to buy some Duck tape !!

I made up a wooden box, which took around an hour to make, using some odd bits of 6mm ply and a few timber offcuts which were lying around. I packed the old VCU, complete with the old support bearings attached and used a coulpe of short M8 nuts and bolts to secure it to the box. The lid was screwed on.
Hopefully, Bell found the box of further use, especially for someone who had ordered a VCU and bearing kit. I found that although the cardboard box the new VCU came in was ample, I doubted whether it would stand a return trip-especially taking into account the weight and possibility of the shaft ends ripping through the box during handling & transit.
