I’m wanting to use a 97 - 01 alternator from a freelander, the sort that has a vacuum pump between the pulley and alternator, I’m generally enquiring about the oil system integrated in it.
Is the oil for lubrication or cooling or both?
Does the supply need to be restricted to a pressure? or have a metered hole in the feed?
This will be fitted to a cummins 6bt, standard crank pulley with a 2700rpm rev limit, i’ve not worked out the speeds yet from the pulley sizes but will do at some point
It has 3 small pins in the electrical connector, is one of them a ‘w’ pin for a rev counter?
Thank you for any replies, serious and helpful or not I know the score!
