I've installed a vacuum guage that indicates fuel economy..
Where on earth can I find a pick off that will make it work.???

is it a turbo diesel ,if so i wont work

You've got a non turbo engine, I take it?
 
On engines where a vac gauge could be used you would tap in to the inlet manifold. If you put your foot down, the engine sucks air in harder and so the pressure drops in the manifold. The gauge displays this drop.
A turbo pressurises the manifold and so your vac gauge will not work.
