Evening All,
Had a look around this (and other ) forums and used search facility but cannot find a definitive answer to my question regarding oil.

Job for the weekend: I want to replace the engine oil, oil in both both gear boxes & the axles.

Is there a listing or sticky which gives a general consensus on grades, brands etc?
I suspect the oil in the diffs at least has been there for some time so while crawling around underneath I might as well change the lot.

Pointers & recommendations most welcome. As a start I'm thinking Castrol Edge 9W40 for the engine?

thats because there isnt a definitive answer oil brands etc are subjective ep90 or 80w90 for axles ,depends on what gear box is

Most if not all of the major oil companies even Halfords have a search facility to find the grades and quanities of oils for your disco. More info in Rave http://www.landy.pl/LandRoverDiscoveryWorkshop1995-1996.pdf

Maybe I'm a numpty but how do I tell which gear box is fitted?

There's only two manual or automatic :doh:

When will let us know what disco you have? .

i asked the question as i hadnt seen title ,but if auto, atf dexron 2 or 3 ,if manual atf dexron 2 or 3 or mtf94
