hey follow mud fokers!

I need some info! I been thinking about doing a v8 coversion on my 90 2.5td BUT.... i aint got a clue what is involved! i dont wanna do it myself but would like to now what sort of money im lookin at for a second hand v8 engine and gearbox and what other stuff do i need for the change! also does n e 1 know how much it would cost to get it donw in a garage?

I will ask my friend who did the conversion of mine from a V8 to a 2.5, so i guess its just a reverse you want to do!
 
It was being used on a farm for a bit of its life so red diesel was cheap and available.

It had been a police car, so it had done about 130,000miles and a trashed 130,000 at that. A brand new 2.5 was aquired which was actully a version of the 19J used in taxis and sherpa vans (15J), the difference being that the water pump is in a different location, and a simple tin cover reveals the timing belt which can be changed in 45minutes, idea for taxis which require this more than usual diesels.

So there we have it, the story behind what is now my 90.

I am currently waiting a reply from the email I sent, it should come through very soon, when it does, and I get it I will paste all relevant information in here.

yeah well ifs there anyone to ask then the guy I asked is, as I said he did it, so there you go. You going to get a V8 that would come with a stock LR? What are you doing with the 2.5?
