Hi all, advice needed here, I have a 300 tdi and am thinking of getting a newer model and have come across a v8 with an lpg conversion. Should I stick with what I've got which is a good runner touch wood? Is there any reason why I should drive a v8 apart from it sounding pretty good? How much more, if any, grunt would I get? I am open to opinions......

I am wondering if maybe your in the situation where you want to buy it but need a kick in the right direction - you need someone to tell you "Keep what you have its fine..."

I know I would keep it, even with the LPG your better off with the Diesel, the 300tdi is a good engine, and with regular oil changes will run for many many miles.

Sell it - move on, have a change!! Here's how i see it...

Tdi...................VS............. V8
noisy............................... lovely
peaky.............................. torquey
expensive to buy................ cheaper
less reliable....................... more reliable
necessary evil.................... pleasure and a joy
common............................ exclusive
slow................................. fast

If it's the one in the Swedish car centre in West London then don't, it has 'issues' with fueling, was brought in for £1500 :(

I've had enough of my 3.5V8, its coming out

to make way for a 4.0 V8 thats been breathed on. Stick with V8, you know it makes sense.

i am all for the v8 but i would run like **** from one with lpg. yes gas is cheaper but everyone you read about on here has some sort of problem with lpg, and it aint as if you can just mend em in yer garage, you have to take em to a specialist, tdi's are reliable andpretty much bullet proof if treated right but by god the the big old 8 in a vee does sound the bollocks ;)

Its 300tdi every time for me. Ever pulled with a posh tart? Always wanting more spent on them! The 300tdi will always give back what you spend on it. Wish Id married mine instead of the posh wife!
