Mad200TDI

Ive owned many Land Rovers, mostly diesel but my latest purchase is a 3.9 v8 Disco, its awsome, sounds a lookts the nutz but the fuel economy is shocking. I put £60 and i just got 100 miles. is it possible to put a diesel lump in exchange or does anyone know how to convert to LPG for a sensible cost??

That is "shocking" you should be getting 18-20mpg but less if you just doing short runs with losts of stop start.

A 300tdi will fit but you will require an EDC engine to give you the extra power if your disco is an auto,

Cheers, forgive me for being dum but what an EDC engine, also would the tank and loom need changing?

EDC = Electronic Diesel Control, it's an electronic fuel management system they added to later 300s to develop a few extra horsies.

you could start off by finding out why you are getting such ****e mpg. you seem to be getting less to 10mpg something is definitely not right.

Tank would be ok, you won't use the V8 pump/fuel sender and a Tdi engine wiring loom will be different but u may be able to adapt the V8 loom. V8 auto box won't work very well with a diesel engine so you can't use that.

i would fit 300 tdi with manual box ,remove pump from sender unit and replace with straight pipe for lift pump ,once v8 ecu and 2 relays and loom removed from behind drivers kick panel kick panel there will be no power to pump loom at back but level sender will still work,on the engine side efi loom is seperate from engine loom and come out with ecu etc you will just need bits like gear sticks consol trim ,rad/intercooler,engine mounts etc ive done quite a few and is reasonably straight forward as truck is built for both

me selling cheap lpg setup,twin underslung tanks,closed loop.off a 3.9..
