I went to move my D2 to do some work on the suspension.
has a fully charged battery on it but the central locking isnt working from fob or key in drivers door though this is annoying.

The thing I need some thoughts on

I put the key in ignition and turned to position 1 and the starter engaged, if i turn to position 2 the starter stays engaged untill it go back to position 0 and remove the key

any thoughts on cause and fix or even a bypass to do trigger the starter form a non ignition switch?

I'd take the ignition/starter barrel apart and make sure nothing has slipped or is shorting.

Some people have put old fashion starter button on the dash, So you could disconect and fit if its a cheeper fix than a proper repair.
