hi,

anyone know what kinda tool i need to buy to take the rocker covers off of my Disco 2 v8? I need ot change the gaskets and the bolt tops look like little round cogs?

regards

Just had a quick glance in the manual and looks like the rocker covers are held down with 4 normal bolts.

I can't remember the exact name for the socket head, but all halfords socket sets contain these sockets.

Imagine a torx bit inverted with the shape on the inside of the socket head.

They are not done up very tight and you should be able to undo them with various socket types anyway.

mine look like sockets that I dont think I have, I will have another look in Halfords to see if I can find a tool that will suit my needs.

cheers for your help

regards

I have the some problem, I understand they are called XZN, but I just cannot find anyone to sell me a socket for it.

I'm sure a normal multi 16 point socket will go on them, like it does with the bolts on the 300tdi brake calipers.

I have tried using high quality multi-point sockets but the 8 mm will not fit over it and the 9 mm one is too loose.

But using multi-point sockets on the brake calipers do indeed work just fine on my P38A too.

What about useing imperial?

I was wrong in my earlier post, I only tried a 8mm hex socket, not a double hex as I thought I did.

Today I got a 8 mm deep socket for 3/4 drive from Halfords and it fits perfectly.
