Hello, just got a v8 Disco on lpg and its got twin tanks underneath,i filled it up and did 114 miles ,the gauge showed half full then green lights went out and it was empty just like that.Went to filling station and put 40 l. in to full with a squeze. My problem is i dont think both tanks are filling up and wondered if anyone had any ideas please? Thanks.

did the gas run out or did you assume it ran out from the guage?

i suspect the elec guage on the dash is only wired to one tank( mine is the same but with tanks in spae wheel space, RR p38) thus giving you the level on both tanks in height of liquid but you have 2x as much as what the guage indicates. easiest thing to do is run it dry and then fill till the pump stops and read litres delivered.

lpg tanks dont air lock as the gas is under high pressure.

there are often, non return valves on the pipework and these can fail or collapse and effectively block the pipes.

there also should be shut off valves on each tank, you can turn these off on the tank you suspect faulty. or check they are both on!

and lastly there will be solenoids on each tank, if one of these isnt working or the connections or wires are broke, gas will not flow from the tank but i doubt this is your problem.

i know the guage will not be accurate, none are on lpg, the best way to guage your fuel is using the tank level guage(probably not visible in your case) or reset the trip counter on speedo when you fill up. or the best way is to calibrate your guage with the software for your lpg system. i'm in the process of doing this and can only guage the fuel by the software or tank indicator as its still not correct on the guage in the dash!!

whats the make of the lpg controller?

Thanks for the info mate. The gas did run out but i will have a look at the system when i get home + let you know the make. Cheers , Mark.

hi
My d2 also has twin tanks and the guage is useless , often showing empty after 50 miles . as gav said best thing to do is reset trip meter abd drive til its run out. this will give you a better idea. What size tanks do you have? I have 2x 40l but this only gives 60-65 litre capacity
usually 200 ish miles on motorway run 130 ish local running around

114mile to 40ltr is roughly 13mpg which isn't too bad

hi having same problem only 1x tank filling turns out to be faulty multivalve [filling non return valve collapsed] got new multivalve and fitting over weekend yours could be same

Thanks to all, will have a look over week end, know any sites to get lpg parts please ? Think they are 2x 40 l. tanks so should get more than 40 l. in per fill, will keep you all posted and thanks again ,Mark.
