Hi All

I decided to swap out my fuel filter while doing other work and the old one came off no problem.
I noticed the fuel lines had a small black O ring on each side, again no problem I was just going to pop the lines into the filter and nip them up.
The new filter came with 2 copper washers. The old one did not have the washers fitted where the lines are attached.
When putting them on the existing lines they are really loose, but I got one side on all ok. The other side was still loose even though it was getting tight. The next thing I know is the threads are ripped out of the new filter even though the washer was not even touching let alone compressing.

Should there be copper washers on these bearing in mind I did not have them before?
Should the rubber O rings be changed?

I have ordered a new filter.
When I fit it I am going to reuse the existing rubber O rings and not fit the 2 copper washers; that way I should be back to where I was but with a new filter.

I changed to a filter that secures with hose clamps after my old filter destroyed the old fuel line connections upon removal.

New filter installed. Original black I rings looked fine, I did not use the copper washers.
A little smear of Hylomar blue on the threads of the fittings and all looks good. I will find out if it leaks when I reconnect the fuel rail and turn the key.
Before that, I need to fit one rocker cover and gasket and fit the plenum and hoses. Refill with coolant, bleed, check the oil, and probably some other stuff too assuming I can remember....
