Hi I have a 97 3.9i and the nuts on the fuel filter are F++++d and I can not get it off, I would like to cut the pipes but need to get fittings to reconnect to the filter.
Thanks for any help.

Flood both glands with easing oil over night and use two decent spanners and you may be lucky.

The glands are not listed as replacement parts but the pipes are.

Have tried all that but they are rounded, even vice grips will not remove. Just tears the soft alloy in the filter.

Hi. Hog thought you might have.... it's the obvious thing to do.

I've only change the filter once so no problems, but just thinking if I had to do it I would find two new glands that fitted my new filter plus some flexi petrol pipe or from a scrap car and with some steel pipe still attached and after cutting removing the damaged ends fit the replacement glands/pipe with a bit of petrol pipe as a joining sleave plus clips to to form a joint.

i have replaced the full fuel pipe system on my 3.5 due to corroded pipes.

i now run rubber flow and return throughout.

the fittings at the tank, filter and engine were all obscure by today's standards but luckily the haydraulics firm i was buying from carry a vast range of adaptors, so i had to use standard BSP hose tail fittings with an adaptor screwed into them to meet up with the existing car fittings. it sounds round the houses but it is a neat solution no less, and tbh it was the only solution for me.

as such i can say that you will struggle to get fittings perhaps. if your steel pipes are in good shape then simply cut off the end fittings and get some fuel hose with the appropriate fuel filter fittings from your local commercial hydraulic pipes trade counter and that will see you right.

if your pipes are shagged i would recommend replacing the whole lot with rubber whilst you're at it, only took me a few hours and its easier than you might think even with the floor still in.
