Took the airportable down for pay and play having done a rebuild & rewire.
Drove a ile at the house all ok, idled fine on the trailer off the trailer over a small mound, still ok. Out the car park and stutter phut phu bang. Coaxed iut back to the trailer but couldn't make the last foot.

If I had broken a lump of landrover fine, but engines leaves me scratching my head.
I have an early range rover v8 3.5l with Lumenation ingnition. I found out last night supply to fuel pump needs a waggle to keep it going so I'm somewat suppisittious as this also supplies the coil.

I'm going to change the sprak plugs as god knows when it was last done, NGK BP5ES - Can anybody tell me the gap?

Question 2 - how do I tell the difference between the stromberg & su carb - hold that thought Google...
No doudt I will back here as a come across V8 hurdles.

worth sorting out your wiring first .... over some bumps wiring moves, you get loss of power to you pump and coil will make your engine die .....

no fuel , no spark , engine wont run on air ! (and if it does i want one )

Fuel pump is US , wish the postman could be faster:mad: Power is ok, but the wire coming out of the pump has a poor connection, I can't get it apart to see about a wee solder job.
So a different plug then, 0.8mm - about 30 thou then on the gap. Cheers for that.
Damm tooting, wish it would run on fresh air

Will let you know how I get on.

p.s. I got twin Strombergs. Thankyou google

I have been offered a set of tools for SU & Stromberg carb adjustments. Not sure what these tools are exactly, waiting for te photo. But seeing as he is having a shed clearance, I thought why the hell not. Could be usefull - could be the worst thing
Where can I buy tools new to get an idea of price?

The pump was the only working bit :(

No taking old gearbox out tomorrow and cutting up plus undoing bulkhead :p have a sneaky plan. Gonna chop it to where it should be as well as unbolt and lift it up a few inches so that the new R380 box and engine can swing in a bit easier as a unit then sort out the gearbox mounts using a spirit level and jack to mark up before fitting
