Hi guys i have recently bought a 2.25 petrol Defender with LPG conversion. Every one keeps telling me i should put a v8 in it and run it on LPG. I have been looking around ebay for one found a couple of good ones, but as being new to this im not sure how much work is involved? Does any one have a rough idea how much i might be looking at to do a conversion or know a good mechanic who can help :) (Im in surrey)

Thanks for any help!

You'd be better off putting a 200 disco engine in there rather than a V8 on gas

but that would take even more converting cos the thing is allready runnning on LPG. dropping a V8 in seems the most sensible upgrade from a 2.25 petrol. should be a straight engine swap if you use the 3.5 efi... i think.

yeh, but u cant beat the sound of a v8 can you! that is surely a huge plus point for putting the v8 in it ??

Wouldn't say the sound of a V8 was a huge plus!

Would be easier tho', just need the conversion kit to mate the injun to the gearbox & with the injun mount adpterators, remote oil filter, leccy fan cuz the old'un prob wunt fit in the gap, cut a bit of the bulkhead away, join up the two eggzorsts, few other leccy bits, fit a new kit to the carbs & set them up to run on the gaz ..................er, actually, dunt make it sound that easy duz it!

Marcus you lost me a bit there! I think the main reason is the noise they do sound pretty sweet. I was given a quote of about 600 plus VAT for fitting...will look around for more, but is that reasonable quote?
Cheers for the help though!
