I noticed a rattle underneath which sounded like a loose exhaust heat deflector.

When I got it on the ramps, the noise is deffinately coming from inside the N/S CAT (cylinder shaped one).

It also seems that both cats are on one pipe, and I'm assuming the inside of the cat has broken.

Landrover are quoting £1100 for the part alone.

As it runs on Autogas, firstly do I need the cats?.....secondly, I'm assuming someone can direct me to a cheaper alternative?

Thanks in advance

Hugs and kisses

Hmmm....I assume CATS means Catalytic converter. I had one rattle once. I was told that the substance inside froms in to a conglomerate lump after a while and it shrinks in the process and rattles. I took it an exhaust place and he cut it open on the top, removed the offending lump and welded it shut where it wasnt visible,. For all intents and purposes, it looked like it had a CC on it, but didnt cost me an arm an a leg for a new one!
Over here we dont have yearly road worthies with gas emission tests so dont know hope the aforementioned would go down over there.;);)
