for NEEDING one in a Disco 1.

Having test driven both an auto and a manual 300 tdi today they just didn't feel right compared to my memories of my old v8i from a few years ago.

I mentioned this fact to my better half and have just returned from casualty. What I need are some good reasons for having a v8 rather than a diesel that will be understood by someone who just doesn't get the "v8 thing"

Spose if it was runnin on lpg you could just about claim it was as cheap to run as a diesel. I love v8's but for everyday use it's got to be a tdi for me.

With an MS/EDIS upgrade the RV8 is no longer afraid of puddles.

However a Tdi is pretty much water proof straight out of the box (with wading plugs and a snorkel fitted)

The V8 has better 'pickup' from near idle and if you look at the torque curves there isn't much in it.

A crisp 300Tdi manual, prehaps with a larger intercooler too, should feel pretty lively on the road. The auto isn't as hidous as 'pub wisdom' thinks, but they aren't quite as brisk as a manual.

I have an V8 Auto on petrol that does 90 miles til red light comes on, my advice is to but a nice Tdi.

good reasons for buying a V8 ......

your an arab sheik

you own shares in Shell

you enjoy paying your mechanic twice as much, twice as often

cant think of any more:(

Save loads of money on expensive international holidays in tropical climates as the climate noticeably warms in the vicinity of your house.

V8's never rust as you cant go near water with em !

FFS everyone knows thats an urban Myth. They can go NEAR water but not IN water. There's nothing to say they can't stop at the edge of the puddle and wait for it to dry out.:p
