Hi Everyone,

My Discovery 3.9 V8 I bogs down until it is warm.
put foot on throttle and it starts to stall but will creep in drive.

Any ideas please

Idle control valve in the plenum chamber needs cleaned out with petrol/carb cleaner.

Ok based on my disco, Your issue doesn't happen for very long, my disco's engine is warm in two minutes at idle or in one mile out on the road.
So as I'm not into guessing but testing, is the engine and fuel/ignition systems up todate with their services, are all the filters clean or have replaced with in the last 12 months, plus what checks have you done so far.??

No, no, no, we need to string these out a bit, make it more fun for the participants playing along at home, we only want to give him one thing to do at a time and let him come back to us, that way we get more bang for our buck and he gets good answers and has a tinker with his motor and reports back to us.

I’ve cleaned that out and it don’t work on mine.. have they got a choke?? Just sumik I heard on the grape vine.. I’m used to carbs on me Rover V8s not efi motors .. so I’m interested to know too

no choke but they have a temp sensor on lhs front of inlet manifold which ecu uses to adjust fueling ie more when cold

I really should read my Haines book of lies . But we ran out of bog roll at work! And we only have from interior trim section left

True, but I use this as a cure from boredom at work when there is not enough work for the big machine and a distraction from my construction qualifications course work.

If only I had a garage again, I could be in there and spanner a little when my eyes get weary from the reading and typing.

I just normally have a w a n K That solves my Boredom for a while
 
Gona try cleaning me idle control out again and hitting that other thing! Will let you know if it fixes it in the morning.. thanks

It's only boredom at work, driving a digger means I'm sitting in a little green house with panoramic view of me from all angles, w a n k i n g is not really an option, but when I worked in a quarry in South London we used to have a loading shovel driver that we called Tug, jesus wept, he couldn't leave it alone, he was chucking himself around in the cab one day when the top brass were on a visit, poor old Mick was doin his best to keep em away from him and managed to at least hold them off until he'd finished :oops:

Haha.. I’m buckled lol.. So don’t shake tugs hand at the end of the day then lol
I’ve seen you lads on sites .. when you’re are waiting for loaders or banksman you’ve got nowt to do.. half of them are a kip most of the day and the others are chain smoking.. or used to.. don’t think there allowed to in the cab now are they!!
Anyhoo.. have you dug up anything interesting?? Just a kean treasure hunter you see!!
And love finding buried stuff.. bottle digging,, metal detecting, gold panning,, and bits that have fallen of me disco ...

The devils also find WW2 bombs, then there's the remains of the plague victims, no wonder they are glad to go home at the end of the day, although can't go to the pub in the City of London if they wanted to as they are too dirty :(

So they just walk the streets with cheap cider! But never P one off .. as they could always bury a body too :eek:

Hurst road in Walton on Thames was a great job for digging up German bombs that hadn't exploded in the old reservoirs, I dug up several, I used to get a lot of the archaeology strips when we were starting new quarries, we did a strip near Datchet for CEMEX where they were extracting gravel for the terminal 5 project, that saw us find loads of Roman pottery, gold coins, bones, fire pits etc, really interesting that it was barely 100mm below the surface of the topsoil, I found a grave site from the black plague in Windsor, had it not been for the basement dig we would have never dug that deep.

I try to keep my smoking to a minimum, but we can smoke in the machines, they are not that strict, I prefer to be busy to make the day go faster, I like laying deep drainage, drag boxes and big pipe, day just flies by!
