Got afreelander kv6 and the top hose has blown on engine side of t connector. Spent last 2 days trying to figure out how you get in to release the quick connector from engine as theres no room to get your hand in. Searched everywhere for some info on how to do it.
Help me please......

You have to do some dismantling. You might as well change the thermostat when you've made space, as that's the thing that fails most often on those.

Which hose has gone. 1, 2 or 3?

You didn't run the engine without coolant did you? As the KV6 simply won't tolerate running without coolant, as the head gaskets go I seconds when there's no coolant around the liner tops.

No I haven't run the engine, not sure which hose it is,one from top of radiator that links up to header tank.
What do you have to remove to get to it?

That's good.

If it's from the rad to the tank, then that's the top vent pipe. It's job is to pass a small amount of coolant to the top of the tank, taking any air in the system with it. Which end has broken, the radiator end or the tank end? That plastic pipe goes very brittle with age, so it's actually best to remove it and replace it with a suitable length of standard rubber coolant pipe. If it's broken at the rad end, then you'll need to remove the from bumper, so you can access the radiator which is hidden behind. ;)

Turns across bulkhead and t's off at engine then goes across front of radiator to road itself.

The large rubber hose that goes across the engine? That is the top hose. What is in the way? It's tucked under the slam panel, so access is tight, so that end it's not difficult to access really.
The other end is under the throttle body, so it's best to get that out the way. ;)

Told you wrong, goes from rad to firewall to heater and t's off. Sorry. It's where the t is that's the problem as there are I think 2 other hoses and the wiring loom around it so you can't get any tools or your hand in to unclip it from I assume thermostat housing. Sorry if I'm not making myself very clear.

Yep that's the one, just got it off laying on engine working upside down, showing my butt crack off to all the neighbour's. Many thanks for your help really appreciated

So has the hose split or has the plastic T broken? I made up a T which had cracked, out of copper plumbing fittings. ;)

No that's fine was the hose that goes to thermostat housing, had a hole in it. Looks like the hose that sits above its clip had been chafing it.

Can you take a picture of it, or mark which hose it is on the cooling system diagram above?

Thanks for the diagram !!
Whilst on this one, one of the V6 Freelanders repeatedly blows off hose between the T joint and the engine. This is the larger T joint directly under the one marked 13, so in the top hose line.

Have refitted it and made sure clamp is tight, used in the heat yesterday to do some 'farm work' and it popped off again. All hoses were hot and so don't think there is a blockage. Stat is obviously opening.

Will take the large T off and see if the rim lip is missing or anything but in the meantime any other ideas????

Thanks.

I made up that T piece out of plumbing fittings for my V6, as it blew off a few times too. It never gave further problems once I'd fabri-cobbled up a replacement with retaining rings. I don't think I've a picture of it though.
