My Freelander V6 has its thermostat stuck shut, and I'm waiting to get time to do the job. I had an email with the latest offers from Rimmers, and the MG Rover KV6 (genuine MGR part) thermostat is currently on offer for £23.94 inc VAT, whereas the Land Rover KV6 stat is listed at £57.36.
I would have thought that these are the same, but does anyone know for sure?
Thanks in advance.

The thermostats are different. The Rover stat has a low mounted bypass return and clip type pipe glands. The LR stat has a high bypass return and quick release pipe glands.
The Rover stat can be used if the quick release sockets are cut off the pipes. I've used them without issue, just make sure the cooling system is bled fully before running the engine. Lifting the rear of the car a couple of feet works well for bleeding ;)

On the NAS KV6 you need to break off a piece of metal that gets in the way ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395748017.691187.jpg

I did that to get the alloy housing made by kaiser fit. I would use the land rover housing otherwise. I too had my thermostat fail shut previously.
