hi there, my name is kris im from cardiff and i have just bought a v reg freelander 1. with the history of freelander i wasnt sure if to go ahead but love the looks and it came with so much paperwork of work done for it in the last few years.. its a 5 door in a champagne type colour.
all was well untill 4 days after i bought it ( trade seller might i add)
i went on the motorway to go home from work and it seemed fine. came on to the slip road for my exit and heard an almighty boom and a flashing of a triangle on my dash. mananged to nurse it to the local b&q carpark just off the slip. looking underneath and from reading posts on forums my prop has blown my ird. i can see oily grease over the underside of the car from the front where the prop meets the ird. ffs. it appears its totally failed but i had to get it home.restarted the engine and warning lights gone but seems it now running almost completly on 2 wd and whatever the boom was has sheered or damaged its 4 wd connection to the back. getting a smell of gas from the front so the ird must be leaking contents on to exhaust. i cant afford 250-400 quid for a refurb ird. so its to my local garage in the morning for prop removal and inspection. im thinking its now gonna be a scrapper. shame as its got reams of history. so hi people and unfortunately i may be saying goodbye in a few days time. they say freelanders are tempremental but four days use is a bit bad lol
