Hi has anyone successfully integrated an Amazon Echo Dot with the 2018 RR Sport infotainment system?

I am trying to connect my RR SPORT HSE 3.0 SDV6 (2018) to an echo dot in the car... I can connect to the car's wifi hotspot - via an in-car data sim - no problem and I can then connect the Dot to the car's bluetooth no problem... but then in media settings, the car does not recognise the Dot as a media source (see attached photos).... it recognises my iPhone and other bluetooth devices no problem.

I was wondering if anyone had solved this? (there is no 3.5mm aux-in on the RRS so I don't know how to manually get the audio signal from the echo dot into the infotainment system other than via bluetooth which doesn't want to work)

Any help from an ICE expert would be very much appreciated.... it would be great to have Alexa in the car as I have an Amazon music subscription and do not really want to pay for Spotify (also the RRS voice recognition for playing music while you're driving is terrible, it NEVER works)

Thanks !

PROBLEM SOLVED.... Since posting this earlier today, my RRS has decided to 'play ball' and recognise my echo dot via bluetooth which it wasn't earlier... slightly concerning how flaky this seems to be but I don't care as the Dot is working perfectly now with slick voice control and my Amazon music subscription is now on tap in the car. Sweet! (if I had a smart home - it's pretty dumb at the moment - I could even voice control everything from the car e.g. garage door, outside light etc. before I got home but my life hasn't got that dull yet... couple more years though)

All sorted then don't leave that spare change in view some little scroat will pop a window for that

This is actually quite interesting. There are more of the newer older vehs popping up on the site and they may be able to make use of this. In fact I'm wondering if , the mobile data on a phone would pick up a dot, and be able to feed music through it's Bluetooth pairing with the veh.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes you absolutely can... if your phone can create a personal wifi hotspot (and most can nowadays) you can connect the Dot to this wifi.... then you can pair your Dot over Bluetooth to your car. For even older vehicles you can physically connect the Dot with an AUX cable (most old cars have an AUX-IN) and treat it as an external AUX source. If anything, this latter option is more likely to work than the Bluetooth option which can be a little flaky.

Lovely car bit outside my price bracket but good luck to u hope u have plenty of breakdown free years in it

Many thanks Pete, yes it is a lovely car, only had it 2 months but have already been on a 2k round trip to south of France over Easter in it and loved every mile (or should I say kilometre!).... they do have a bit of a bad rep for reliability so I'm crossing my fingers :)

Complicated. So the car provides wifi for the dot. The dot then provides music back to the car?

Yes that's exactly right... the car provides a wifi hotspot via an in-car SIM (or you could use your phone as you said), you connect the Dot to that hotspot to access the internet... then via the infotainment system you add the Dot as a bluetooth source for streaming music... simples! (ok not really simples, it is a little convoluted and I found that even after successfully pairing the dot via bluetooth I had to turn the car off and on again before it actually recognised it as a source (flaky as you like) but hey, no pain no gain!)

Whoever is driving in that last pic ( apart from being tiny) needs to learn to relax a little. They look likemtheyre scared.

P.s is that the mph on the left? If so it could explain why they're scared, as they are breaking the speed limit. Hope they get caught soon.
