Picked up my Range Rover at the weekend, 4.6 HSE Auto, LPG Coverted.
Took the missus to Tesco today, while she was shopping i popped into Halfords to buy a selection of Fuses..10, 25,30 Amp..
Lifted the bonet took the lid off the fuse box,checked all the fuses, all were ok. Went to put the fuse box cover back on, then i spotted that the first fuse in its hole was a 5 amp, but according to the underneath of the lid, it should be a 10 amp...So thinking i was doing the right thing i put a 10 amp in its place...Then i noticed that there were about another 4 fuses in the wrong place and not at the right Ampage...HOPE YOUR WITH ME SO FAR !! So again thinking i was doing the right thing proceded to put a new correct fuse its correct place....Replaced the fuse lid, dropped the bonet, got in the car, went to turn it over and thats when the fun started!!!
The compete dashboard is not working, lights are flshing on/off, SRS light flashing, ABS light flashing, Speedo not working, Petrol gauge going from left to right,Temprature gauge going from left to right,Trip computer trying to come on but then fading away,Windows not opening then opening 5 minutes later...And when you drive the car there is no power coming from the engine...puffing along like a tractor !

ALL I DID WAS CHANGE A COUPLE OF BLOODY FUSES...
WHATS HAPPEND??
Took the RR to a good electronic mechanic local to me and he is Baffeld.
Anyone help PLEASE.

yes change them back and see if it works again. AND IF IT ENT BROKE DONT FIX IT

Sounds to me like you have some dodgy connections. The fuseboxes on these old girls are known for giving trouble, they get a bit of damp in them, corrosion sets in and the trouble starts. By swapping out the fuses you have obviously disturbed some connections that where only just made. Ive read a couple of times from Land Rover specialist that they reccomend changeing the fusebox after 8 years or so to prevent your problems. However I am sure that with a bit of patience and some wet and dry paper, you can clean all the connections under the fusebox. Its best to dissconect the battery first - refer to manual to prevent the alarm going off. Oh, and dont panic.

The lights and dials and trip computer are all trying to come on now, but Fading away just as soon as they appear..

I think the problem is coming from the passenger seat.
When i got the car, the guy said that the seat was not working and that he had taken a look but could not fiond anything obvious.
Well after looking myself i noticed a 30 amp fuse was not where it should be...So thinking this would sort out the seat i put a 30 amp fuse in..Hey Presto the seat suddenly started working...but i noticed that when i pushed the fuse in there was a slight spark..Maybe this is the problem?

Panik, me...Never....

Why don't you pull 'em all out and replace one-by-one? Ignition on and off in between replacements and it might let you identify the dodgy circuit?

that spark is a dead short to earth, time to whip the seat out and check all the wiring to your motors

Will pull them all out in morning..and replace one by one.
Will also get the seat out and take a look.

Unhook the battery, negative first, before removing and replacing anymore fuses.

Refit all the fuses according to the underside of the fusebox lid.

Check the wiring on your seat and then hook the battery back up and see what happens.

My guess, from what you are saying, is that it is most likely the engine fusebox that is at fault. Depending on how DIY you are, I would have the fusebox out and disassemble it and look for any signs of corrosion and dry joints. A common problem is people topping up the coolant and spilling coolant into the fusebox. This corrodes the connections and can cause problems like you are having.

Failing it being the fusebox you might have a problem with the BeCM, I think this is unlikely since everything was working ok before.

Check out the engine fusebox, I reckon the answers to all your problems lie there, after all, all your problems started after you were fettling in that area.

hi probably be the fues box i had 2 in mine within 4 years you can open them up but nothing to see to take apart you have to remove fues box and all fuses and relays take a pick of the fuse and relays so you know where to put them back then unclip the outer black plastic caseing to get to the board you will have to snip all of the silver pins that link both boards and resolder when put back together best off buying a new unit under 100 pound inc all fueses and relays from the dealers hope this is some help

Took the Range Rover to a guy today, he sorted everything for me....Total cost was £200. but he got the car back to its original state.

Well he changed a couple of Relays, he also corrected the Cowboy job done of the wiring under the Bonet...Sombody through the years has fitted a couple of TV screens into the headrests and a flip out Cd player at the front.
He said that the wiring was a bodge job, he replaced all the wiring with the correct fittings and fuses.
Done a good job, took him 5 hours and for £200 i was well happy !!!
