Stupid son lost keys while away at Plymouth uni, I've bought new key from dealership and am sat in car with my brothers autologic box plugged in but nothing I do will program the key. The thing seems able to change anything else but gives me a big red box alert when trying to learn new key and says it's list connection. It feels like it's timing out.
Is there any way to disable immobiliser so it will start and I can get it back home to Hampshire?
Our does anyone know any land rover specialists in/near Plymouth who could do it?
I have rung many of the local mobile lock people and all said they can only do 2007 or after.Regards Kevin

Hi, if you look at page 3 of this forum & see @andyfreelandy 's post on ignition key chip cloning you'll see what model years can't be programmed & have to be sourced from LR.

LR should have supplied you a key already coded to you vehicle, which they can do via the VIN, no coding needed, it should be plug n play.

In my research on how to clone keys, it does appear that LR may have to enable the new key into the immobiliser. I think there are 10 slots. Any lost keys can then have their slot disabled to prevent theft and a new one allocated for the new key.
LR should do this for you with the new key I would think.

I think your right, when I enquired about a new key about 3 years ago the LR dealer wanted to charge me for half an hours labour to programme the new key to the car £75 ish if I remember correctly.

Thank you all.... Everything sorted now.
The battery was flat, I could not get near it to use jump Leads so had to buy a battery and tools.
After an hour trying to program the key without success I decided to have a fag and Google used trailers for sale... I was that desperate. I gave it one last try and it worked

Hi, glad you got it sorted. So in the end did the key come already 'programmed' & what year is the Freelander ? I need to get a second key for my 04 FL so if it came programmed I might just buy a key from LR.

That's a shame. I have got a Foxwell NT530 which has key programming in the menu so presuming it's capable I'll have to have a read up in case I do more harm than good if I try & programme a key myself.

I in the unit I used it's under Imobilser section and there was an add new key button. It then had a Learn button on touchscreen, that was the button that caused my problem because it never changed appearance like the other touchscreen buttons did, it just timed out and said it couldn't connect. Eventually the button reacted. The last part was easy, pressed the Enable button.
