I was running late to work last night so was having to put the old girl through its paces. Got to work and engine temp was slightly higher than normal and engine revs had dropped, it was just ticking over. Left it for a while, one of the lads took it to another site and on his return fired up straight away. At about half 1 this morning I went to shift it and it was turning over but would not fire up. Recovery guy sprayed easy start in, that wouldn't fire it up. He got it on to the back of the truck with a chain and tried to bump it, no joy! Any ideas?? To add to the problem when he tried bumping it, as I lifted the clutch, there was a bang and the rear of the car veered to the left, as he winched it on to the back of the low loader, there was a scraping noise, has he ****ed my diff??

Could be fuel filter full of water or electrical problem, bump starting it shouldn't damage the diff as all 4 wheels would be on the ground and rotating. I would drain / replace the filter, prime the fuel system check where the electrics come through the bulkhead on the passenger side. My previous disco had problems with the grommet falling out that is supposed to protect the electrics where they come through and it started to ear h alias of the wires due to the insulation getting cut up. In regards to the bang and jump to the left you will need to check all the transmission stuff to see what's damaged but I can't think what would have caused it.

hi if it was running fine then look for obvious stuff first (garage guy should have done but you never know)
my undertanding is that if the engine has fuel and is turning it will run,
so go fuel first when investigating.
check you have 12volts to the fuel shut off soliond on the injection pump (or temp put 12 volt there streight from battery and try to start)

let us know
also has this happened before?
the D1 has a fault in the imobiliser which will cause this,,but a temp 12v feed from battey will allow it to start

Head gaskets gone, exhaust gasses getting in coolant. Would this cause this??
if head gaket gone pressure in cooling system would be from cylinders not the exhaust (but still not good)
spose if bad then you will get little or no compression and so no combustion.
so yes could cause this
Over to more knowlageable peeps than i now as i can feel my feet off the bottom as your prob is out of my depth an i dont want to waste your time.
Good luck an please let us know what happens
