this image's file size is 100 times smaller that the max upload.

some ideas :)

you could either stop using your camera's max resolution.
learn to reduce the file size
use an external service which reduces it for you
see if roy will add an addon which reduces files for you(though this may harm server performance)

(btw file size isn't the same as image size (in pixels)
HEY brilliant photos what did you use for these ??????? please and how do I post them ,,,,oh im with the old fart tomcat im thick as well !!!!!!!!!!!!! at least im honest ,,,,,but well done

I'm well confused about the difference between file size and resolution so I'm no use to man nor beast when there's a piccy problem o_O

Anyway....wots wrong with me curtains?

Any phone with that sort of resolution camera includes the ability to download apps. . . . Plenty of free photo app that can easily resize pictures.

On Mac's just open the photo in Preview App, then open Markup Toolbar" and resize the pic.

On windoze PC, again there's loads of free apps for resizing photos.

Yeah, the upload is probably at a 2MB default... which is a bit shy of directly sending up piccies from your camera.

If we can, something to resize serverside would be useful.

That would be ideal as there's always someone who is having problems uploading....always has been.

Could you post on Rattys thread in Bugs?

I'd do it but you know what you're talking about :)

It was a photo of two piggin syncro hubs I was trying to upload. I'm asking for advice on how to reduce file size, I am an old fart who isn't putor literate so there is now use telling me what to do without telling me how. You might as well be talking to me in Scottish. I never had this problem with the old site so do we put it down to progress?:mad::) By the way, you are missing your front number plates.;)
alright, then hang tight and it'll probably be sorted out so you don't need to do anything differently :D

Hmm, I wonder if it is pixel count at fault. I have a picture that is 2mb on my phone but huge pixel count. Not really got access to my PC to experiment with dpi vs size. But I would assume that is the likely cause.
