Hi again, I'm in need af advice again I Would like to improve the ride of my disco with out increasing the height as the off roading I do isn't very harsh I don't need the height. I have searched the forum and notice britpart are no very recommended. I found theses terra firma shocks and I'm not sure on the springs and wondered if anybody has used them? Here's the link DISCOVERY 1 STANDARD HEIGHT SUSPENSION KIT - Land Rover - Maverick 4x4 - Land Rover Defender & Discovery Accessories, Winching, Recovery & More - DISCOVERY 1 STANDARD HEIGHT SUSPENSION KIT
Thanks again

I use the dampers on mine with a mild lift and there spot on. No complaints at all. Not too sure on the springs, but terrafirma are a good make. Bearmach do some nice heavy duty standard height springs.

I have seen the bearmach set but was not sure if it was any good, I can't find any standard springs from terrafirma only 2" lift springs

I run +30mm front +40mm rear heavy duty blue bearmachs and standard height terrafirma dampers. I've also removed the rear anti roll bar. Road handling is nice and stiff and it still works awesome offroad.

I'm new to this so I'm trying to understand are the shocks more important or the springs? Also are pro comp shocks any good as there is a set of bearmach springs with procomp shocks at standard height? Cheers it's taking me hours to find any info.

Think of it as the springs take the weight and the dampers take the bounce. You'll hear mixed opinions on pro comp. I had them some years ago and found them too soft for what I needed and they rusted very quickly. If your not looking for lift then the terrafirma set you linked should be fine, but don't rush to hit the buy button. Have a good think about what your after with your landy as springs are roughly the same price it might be work putting a mild lift,as it would give you more freedom when buying tyres.

Thanks for the explanation has made a lot of sense. I have seen a two inch terra forma lift kit but did not know how much work would be involved and if it would involve much cost. It does seem easier to find the lift kits.

It all takes the same amount or work weather its a lift kit or not. I highly recommend the bearmach blues and standard hight terrafirma dampers. I paid about 200 for it all,but I ordered it from different surpliers. With the set up I run you wouldn't need to change anything like the brake hoses or need cranked arm ect. ect.

Terrafirma - don't get me started!! :mad::mad::mad:

These guys will not communicate with you under any circumstances.:eek:

Their website, at first glance, appears informative but doesn't deliver any suitable info.:mad::mad:

I've had a problem with my Disco leaning to one side after fitting Terrafirma +2 medium duty springs all around. I contacted the suppliers who said they were not handed. Out of interest, I contacted other suppliers too. 50% said they were handed, 50% said they weren't. Really helpful!!

I've swapped them from side to side and it still leans. So I checked their website so I could confirm the measurements and ALL, yes ALL of their light, medium and heavy duty springs have exactly the same dimensions, including weight and coil thickness - defies the laws of physics in my book.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of people who are pleased with Terrafima but all of mine will be on ebay once I've saved up for a set of OMEs.

Tread carefully my friend.

I am running standard springs and koni heavy track shocks and they are fantastic. They are adjustable so you can tune the ride to suit you. I wanted fast road use so I have mine set on the plus 20% setting and its completely eliminated body roll and still gives a smooth ride

About £60 a corner from paddocks and well worth it in my opinion

cheers

If you want to improve the ride quality of your vehicle the most important component is a kit of new shock absorbers.

Go for quality, so no terra firma, Britpart or other cheap makes like that.

Boge, Penske, Ohlins, De Carbon, Bilstein. Go for gas shocks.
