I am thinking of upgrading my standard sealed beam headlights on my 1994 Defender 90 300tdi. Why? Because I can/could and the headlights fitted are okay but not brilliant.

Has anyone upgraded standard headlights? I do intend to get them wet so should I stick with my basic headlights + 2 Wipecs on an A bar? They do work well but... I do like the look of options available to give better lighting. Anyone have these fitted? Angel Eye Headlights headlamp RHD H4 Landrover Defender on eBay (end time 15-Aug-09 22:28:40 BST)
What would you do? Stick or look at options...let me know what you think or what upgrades you have done. :)

Just get the Halogen conversion for them. Angel eyes is for chavs BMW & RR drivers.

 Thanks Red, I am too old to be a Chav... I just need to see better in the dark. Angel eyes are OFF the list. PS....S*L*U*T is really hard to read in yellow... hence the upgrade :) Any other thoughts warmly welcomed... Halogen is looking a good option.

I've got halgen conversions on mine and they are better than the lights on the disco used to be. Cheap and simple fix anorl.

it may not be the same on landies but i upgraded the lights on my scirocco using relays to get a full 12v to the bulbs (was 4v as standard!!) and xenon bulbs really are better.

H4 Halogen lamps with Xenon bulbs are a good choice. But make sure u retrofit a relay to the lighting system or u'll burn your switches soon

I've no idea about MOT standards in the UK, but then I'd recommend Wipac or Hella lamps.

These seem quite ok though... well upto you.. lets see wat the others have to say...

Thanks for the advice :) I have had a root about and these look okay? PM1039 Halogen headlights with sidelight - pair RHD from 94MY - with Ring Ultra Xenon Bulbs
Are these okay for MOT standards?

Yep as long as they have a E number on them they'll be fully road legal.

Not sure why peeps are on about fitting relays. A 55W Halogen or Xenon bulb uses exactly the same number of amps as a Std landrover 55W bulb. the extra light comes from the use of different gasses and filaments?

PS I've got these ones. http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DEF...pair)_-_left_hand_dip_(UK_and_Australia).html

I'll second that they're an excellent choice. Fitted those recently with some Philips plus 80% bulbs, and what a difference :D I can see now .... :D:D

The Wipac look excellent... but do they have the little 'side light' bulb that dimly lights the headlamp like on the standard headlamp or do they just light when headlamps are on?
Good info re relays thanks.

Never bothered with the side bulb as the side lamps work perfectly well. But yes they do have one.

Looks good, i saw the wipacs in a landy mag a while back but totallt forgot about them till now.. a definate order me thinks

Got crystal wipacs here too, really good lights, a couple of small cheap spotlights on an A bar really help the main beam too.

I must have chav blood as thought the angel eyes were quite smart.
Although I was born in Kent both my parents are from Essex
But there parents are from Yorkshire and Lancashire. So maybe I'm just a bit confused as to what I am.
Maybe it's time I came out :eek::eek::eek:

The links don't work for these wipac ones so I can't tell.
Sounds like a good idea to have the side light in the head light though as the independent side light may be able to be modded to hold a day running light.
I'm sure my 110 would not have been written off if I had been seen by the other prick.
Green car with a back drop of green trees ???
