Ok, first off the head gasket is ok - new engine with new head gasket & upgraded PRT fitted 3,000 miles ago, i.e.usual required "major" service on these vehicles.

Temperature is ok except for very hot day + towing + engine under load. Not in the red but higher than normal.

Does anyone know if there is a larger capacity radiator - will the diesel rad fit or is there an export to hot country upgrade anywhere. Tried LR and nothing helpful.

Hi dorowe!
Hope yer not thinkin yer been ignored, dont know off hand about the Diesel rad swop, but i will check later,
Might be worth trying one of the high performance/overland expedition specialist places, ?

By the way! wot yer dragging about?? You'd think after the money yer just spent on the motor you'd have more sence He he

I reckon Mondos advice about trying an expedition specialist may be a good lead. They carry hefty loads in some pretty unforgiving places.
Isn't there a fan mod available?

Upgrading the fan is not a good answer. The radiator surface area needs to be larger so the existing air flow keeps the temp. down.

I guess you're right. Larger surface area = better cooling characteristics.
What about an oil cooler? That would help? Do Freelanders have oil coolers?
