The silver P38 went in for an MOT yesterday, passed, but tyre wear was flagged.

The wear is on the drivers side rear on the inside edge only, these were all new tyres. the only thing i could think it would be is the wheel bearing ?

If you mean bearing wear enough to let the wheel rock from side to side, I think you would notice other issues first like abs sensor damage and brake disc wear .... alignment maybe?

Does it drive evenly?

it doesn't pull, it runs straight and alignment was recently done when the new tyres went on (continental cross contact). I have towed with it, 750kgs trailer with a range rover on on the back, can only think that there is enough bearing play with weight on cause wear.. there's no bearing hum, but that can happen when the bearing is well and truly worn out.

The swivel hub is pinned top and bottom (the Classics used pins and a swivel ball) if there is wear in the pins, this can cause the hub to sit misaligned .... and the disc, caliper and bearing would all sit correctly relative to the swivel hub, but the swivel hub would be canted!!

Opps didn't read rear....

Hmm....the hub is bolted to the axle casing...loose bolts?? but you'd notice that I would have thought!

Snapped axle casing??

Clutching at straws....

cant see any axle damage and it would hve been flagged on the MOT for sure !!

that's why i can only think it's the hub/bearing. that one was changed a few years back, but by a f**king muppet show garage

Laser alignment will show if the axle has moved rearwards on the offside or you could do it yourself by taking measurements from both sides eg axle centres to sill etc.
