There are a few methods available for undoing the crank pulley. One is to lock the ring gear but I ote you don't really want to go that route. The second is to use a very sturdy breaker bar wedged on the chassis, then disconnect the coil or remove rotor arm then crank the engine - I've never tried it that way, just dont like it, large potential for collateral damage.
If your engine is the same as my RRC 3.9, I have found it is possible to lock the pulley by using a steel bar wedged in to the notch on the damper which is the thick thing behind the crank pulley. You need the bar to be long enough to wedge against the chassis or to reach under the air con compressor mounting, make sure you get a good bite and then get the breaker bar and heave away.
Please note, you can't wedge the steel bar against the ground because the engine mounts will allow the engine to rise and the whole thing will just ride over the bar, it is best to find a sturdy bracket/mounting on the engine itself.
Hope that helps you out.
