I very cleverly dropped my oil filler cap in the engine bay this morning at 7:30.

While I was underneath trying to fish it out, I noticed that one of the 2 side bolts was missing from the undertray and the opposite one was loose and on its way out!
I would love to blame someone else but the fact is that I was the last person to take the tray off when I did an oil/filter change.
I usually put those 2 bolts in loosely first because they hold the tray in place while the others are put in, so I probably just forgot to tighten them up afterwards.

Anyhow, I need to get a new one so does anyone know what spec those 2 bolts are? They have 10mm heads and are probably M6 or M8 or something similar.
I might actually replace the big ones with stainless as well as they are looking a bit corroded, so would be good to know exactly what they are as well.

Bolt sizes are double dutch to me.

If you're only 1 down though, you're running more bolts than most probably. My tray's such a bugger to get back on, I run with as few to hold it up as pos!

Often can't be arsed to put it back on either. Unfortunately that has come backs - I fancied heading down to the mouth of a local river here yesterday evening - which is a drag down a gravel track - but realised the tray wasn't on. I hate driving that track without the tray as the stones whack up under the car and I feel the sump is a bit less protected. I often see trails of oil as it rejoins the tarmac, which I recon is sump damage. I know I could just drive it slowly... but I know when I get there, a big grin appears on my face and going slowly just aint going to happen!
 
same here dropped a socket down there this morning,
tried to use the old magnet on a stick,no joy so the sump
guard thing has got to come off,(bugger).:eek:.
 
I got so p****d of fighting the lower part of the bumper while getting the front bolts out I drilled large holes in the plastic. You can't see them unless you get down on hands and knees looking but it makes taking the undertray out much easier.
Sorry not sure what size they are but I think M10.
 
if you pull up the side protector better the belt side you will get good access and also see where it is failing that make sure there is nothing behind you and reverse very quick then slam the brakes on they sometimes roll off as per getting the bolts from LR if they are the very back ones you have no chance and my local one keeps insisting they are same as the front and they are not
