Hi everybody,
In need of some advice if anyone can help.
I have an unidentified knocking noise on the underneath of my 2004 3.0 Diesel Vogue.
This knocking can be heard very clearly at low speeds whilst travelling over uneven surfaces like a bumpy road etc, on the smooth flat complete silence.
I have recently had both rear N/S & O/S hub bushes replaced but can't find the cause of this knock.
I sounds like the exhaust knocking on the chassis that sort of noise only when going over a bumpy surface in rhythm with the suspension. After having the rear hub bushes changed due to the noisy squeak at my local indy dealer they checked underneath and couldn't find anything lose.
Any ideas folks, there is no transmission play, goes into gear smooth, air suspension all seems fine, no knocking under acceleration or breaking, fine on cornering both low or high speed, this knock seems to appear at low speeds on uneven surfaces. ;)

I had a rattle that sounded like the exhaust baffles but it turned out to be the bolts holding the handbrake drum on were loose .

Would not affect the L322....handbrake is internal to the rear brake discs.

Rumbling and knocking on the L322 is usually down to suspension bushes, could be subframe bushes, but not heard of them being to much of an issue...but then again the L322 is getting on in age now so early whens could have a bit of play in them!

Prime candidate is either front or rear anti roll bar drop links after that the rear wish bone inner bushes or front suspension arms , but I would start with the drop links first

Yep everybody I have spoke to suspects first of all drop links, will have them looked at in the first instance.
I have had the rear hub bushes all changed as I had the notorious squeak which in the end done my head in.

On my P38 it was the heatshield above the exhaust under the driver's seat that had come loose. Does the L322 have anything similar?

I believe there is a heat sheild on the L322, but the exhaust system is solid, I'm going with the drop links as the first port of call.

Have you replaced the Air Struts at all??

It is reported that Dunlop replacements have a knock to them!
