The EPROM programmer uses the Centronics connector, the plotter is serial.

I had an old CD burner and unless I finalized the disc I could only read it using their software, ended up spinning up a Win98 VM on an XP machine so I could copy the files off when I found the discs some years later.

Which one of MS operation system was the crappy slow mind numbing stupid:mad: even the most intelligent monkeys gave up and defecated on Microbrain Gates.i
I know when Linux early version was downloadable via modem, you got radiation sickness from the VDU screen:oops: After that you lose the will to live loading up to the computer, your left crying uncontrollable as the next stage ask confirmed Enter key:confused:
From the radiation sickness then I still suffering to this day urine glowing in the dark. I felt sorry for guys who's going so well halfway when the computer stalls from being overheating.o_O

I remember Windows NT being a PITA installing all the drivers.

Vista was a pain

Must admit before destroying my soul on windows. I had macos9 the whole thing change to macosx upgrade. That was a sod as they based on BSD. I could live with os9.

Vista was a massive resource hog. 10 is just 8.1 with a different UI.
I beg to differ, 10 is a vast improvement on 8 which was universally condemned.
Vista was such a disaster that if you had the Pro version, Microshyte offered a free downgrade to XP:rolleyes:
As I see it, Microshyte manage a workable version of windows at about every third attempt, there was one version of 95 that was OK, 98 and 2000 not good, XP OK 7 & 8 NBG 10 suffered many early problems but is now OK. 11 is mostly as far as I have seen so far a change for the sake of change job with even the off button hidden.

I spent ages trying to get a new hard disc (32GB I think) working then eventually found out it needed to be Win95b as that had large disc support. Had a few trips back to the shop saying it wouldn't work.

Do wish they would hurry up the upload fix. I have bucket full of fresh cowdung cartoons for downloading here.
Just let sleeping dogs lay :)

XP was stavle at least. 2007 was a massive improvement. All you can say about Windows 10 is it is better than anything else since Win 7.

Linux Open SUSE is OK but the GUI really does show why some things are better done with centralised project management.

Somewhat limited but I am increasingly impressed by Android as an OS. A linux spin-off but very capable.

Win7 was just Vista with the worst of the flaws removed.

Could be. I found Win7 very stable and reliable and quite easy to fix / setup.

Incidentally, for virus protection etc I have just moved from McAfee to Bitdefender. Only £45 a year at the moment for their top of the range product with VPN etc. Quite impressed so far and less than half the price of McAfee and a lot less resource heavy.
