Not as limited edition as the Linely model....

The Braemar was a Bleinheim Silver colour with all the toys of the CARiN Nav System and Hi Line Audio with dash mounted centre speaker.

They released it to try and shift stock in 2001 before the L322 came in....same reason they launched the Vogue Model in the 4.6 in England....

Not unless you've got an insane amount of cash to spunk on a Motor thats gonna either overheat or slip a liner somewhere down the line, thats if you can find one.
Shame they didn't make a Diesel one, at least that had a chance in life.
 
That Linley interior shot on the first page looks gorgeous. I wonder if you could spray the wood trim and then lacquer it to get the same effect? Although given the price of the wood trim pieces it'd be an expensive experiment!
 
I've got one of 15 made 2.5DHSE 2002 Braemar's. They made 25 in total the other 10 were 4.6's. I've hunted high and low since I've owned it to try and track down any other Braemar owners and so far have only come across 2 with petrols.
So yes the Braemars are fairly rare.
I don't know that I would call it ultimate though, Ultimate pain in the arse may be!

the ultimate P38 HAS to be the 630R Anniversary from Overfinch.

There were 25 built in 2001 and 2002 to celebrate 25 years of Overfinch/Schuler (previous name) production.

6.3 litre small block chevy with Tuned Port Injection, Suspension, steering box, etc plus Alacantara headlining, computer tables, rear DVD etc etc etc - special split rim alloys too.

This was the one on top gear where Clarkson is racing a 2.0 focus on the runway and hammering it -whilst towing a 2 litre focus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cost was 45k in addition to your Range Rover.

I drove the last one built recently - green with 52000 miles - was for sale at Walton Motors but he wanted too much for it (16 grand) and wouldn't budge.

I guess the title of the thread is 'Ultimate P38' and not 'Rarest P38' so even though only 5-6 Linley models were ever produced making them the Rarest...the 630R is a good contender for Ulitmate....

But maybe the Ulitmate P38 is one that never breaks down...but that would make it also rarer than the Linley too:D:D

I was going to say the same. The ultimate P38 is one with everything working that doesn't break down :D

How much was a Vogue at the time the Linley was released? Over 100k for it back then seems crazy for a car that basically has a few bit of different trim here and there!

The £100K is for the royal connection and to pay Linley his comission for the use of his name. LR counted on there being enough image suckers to sell the few that were made.:rolleyes:
 
10 commissioned but only 5 where built for the UK and 1 in the US.

I think the HSE was going for around the 40-50k mark at the time!
