Hi London Landyers!

I'm a long time prospective Land Rover buyer BUT live in Zone 2 in the big smoke near Greenwich.

As you may already know, the ULEZ zone extends from Zone 1 in Oct 2021 out to include most of inner London from October 2021 meaning it will be £12.50/day inside N & S circulars for non-compliant vehicles. This will therefore include my house :\

Historic vehicles (i.e pre-1981 (by 2021) or 40 years before present) are exempt which presents a nice excuse and opportunity to invest in a series Landy.

So I wondered if Series III and earlier vehicles that have had the 200TDI Disco conversion would still qualify as exempt? Clearly, the engine within said historic vehicle will not be 'historic' in a compliance sense in spite of its increased efficiency.

Anybody have any experience and/or insight? Or any links to other threads online covering this?

Cheers!

Are you sure a series is exempt, I typed the reg of my 1977 series into the web page checker and it said it was t exempt.

Per the screenshot below - you need to register for exemption - I don't think the various vehicle databases marry and obviously they can catch more unsuspecting classic owners with an opt in system like this!

Thanks for that, my series is registered as historic with the DVLA and I expected the LEZ to recognise this. I don't plan on using the landy in London, I would be lucky if it got as far as London, I just entered its reg out of curiosity. I wonder if the price of historic landys will go up as more Londoners realise their benefit.

They are now extending the ULEZ to all of London. Just a cash grab. You have probably been using LRR in Charlton for repairs? They are closing. Is there anywhere else near us? I'm in Plumstead. So I'm looking for someone either in London, South Essex or Kent ?

Well as the v5 only lists the engine capacity and thats if you even bothered to tell them it has a different engine in the first place, I cannot see how they would even know that a non original engine is fitted.
If their system says the car is exempt then exempt it is.

Just checked my diesel s2, and it reckons it is not compliant.

Maybe get someone with a petrol to try their reg number?

We have notified them when we have fitted new engines and got a new v5 each time.

I think the op is/was trying to be cunning by using an exempt motor but with an engine that means you can actually afford to do some miles in it.

I guess if they had a petrol model thus exempt you could stick a tdi in it, and so log as the insurance company know there would be no need to tell the dvla as it still meets their points system to keep the classic status.

I think that is a database error, they seem to be fairly common.
All Historic Registered vehicles should be exempt from the charge.
There are quite a few posts in the AG thread on this subject, Boguing has had the same problem with his lightweight, but as far as I can remember has now chased them up and it has been entered on the database as exempt.
