Why doesn't UK like campers staying overnight away from camp sites?
Aires are very popular across the canal in Euro land, often free but you can usually only stay a night or 2 and they like you to spend some money in the local community while you're there

In the Highlands, NC 500, you have campervan and caravans parking in cemetery car parks, school car parks, entrances to fields, passing places on single track roads and a multitude of other unsuitable places.
Not to mention emptying their chemical toilets into watercourses and crapping in bushes next to the road.
Generally being arseholes !
