Hi,

I have a swb 1980 series 3, I'm currently on 205/80/16's with original rims. I want to swap to 235/85/16's will they still fit?

Thanks :)

Well yes if you really want to but you are best off with wider rims. You will also lose some steering lock and have increased steering effort; man up or go to the gym.
I was always happy on 205/80s but do think SWB look good on 750/16s

Ok, thanks. I just wanted something a bit bigger so I'll man up haha

Ok, will they fit at all on the current ones or is it best not to bother?

When I looked into it recently I was advised to fit the lwb rim because they are 5.5 inch.
my swb are 5 inch.
I'm getting bfg MUDs 235/85/16 on mine and they said 5.5inch rims are right on the limit, so 5 " lwb rims would not be any good.
I may have a few lwb rims extra once I sorted through the stuff I got, if your interested. You can have em, if you can pick them up. Will have a look at weekend.

7.50's are good option, near as dammit the same diameter as 235/85s but without the same width problems.

They look well on a swb imo

I like 7.50's too, have goodyear g90's on both the s1 and s3 swb's s1 has 5.5 rims and the s3 has 6.5 wolf rims

I always think narrower tyres look better on an older Landy. No need to mess around with changing rims either. I have some 7.5R16 Avon rangemasters on my 90 which look good and last forever.

X2 on Narrower tyre's n 750's. Whilst it's personal I agree they give a great period look to any Series'2a and 3.
