Michelin Synchrones or Pirelli Scorpions were the factory fitted tyres. Synchrones are no longer made (as far as I'm aware) so I have been running on Scorpions. They have done well for me in the weather over the last few years and can cope with everything I've driven over. That said I'm told that though they are stamped as M & S (mud and snow), they are not true snow tyre as they dont have the snowflake symbol.

If you can afford it, especially as you have had mixed tyres, then change all 4. Remember if you only change 2 then put them on the rear!

Hi Bulldog. I just replaced 2 scorpion str's today (with scorpion str's) They had lasted about 30k and I never had any problems. Paid £149 each fitted. You may get them a bit cheaper but the day before my hols I was just glad to get them on (Kwikfit quoted £165 each inc 25% discount). I have had these allround (pardon the pun:D) since the first synchrones on the front wore out at 58K.
