Hi
Have to start thinking about replacing my tyres, have Michelin synchrones at present and have been excellent tyres, can anyone give me an honest opinion on what tyres to replace them with as they are no longer available.Their replacements are the Michelin Latitude Diamaris but I have had mixed opinions on this brand ? I tow a caravan about 2k miles a year otherwise just normal driving of about 3-4 k per year.I do not go off road.
Your help would be appreciated
Graham

~~~~~~~~~
i had michelin synchrones ..
replaced them with p.scorpions str's .. ( march '12 )
'06 td4 unladen commercial .. 32psi front / 30 psi rears ..
so far wear has been even all around .. no diff between front or rear ..
with weight on the back i'd probably up the rears psi ..
fine tyres .. rain or shine ..
( can't comment regarding snow .. and i'm on tarmac only .. so far )
'n i use my own pump .. as opposed to garage pumps ..
rekon be less chance of moisture via condensation getting mixed in ..
( be one post .. at least .. regarding internal de-lamination ..
( could have been a bad batch .. or contaminants introduced via air pumps .. or ? ..
tyre fitters i used .. had them all at 36psi for some reason .. some chart they reffered to ..
LR recomends 30psi all 'round ..
if i hadn't chosen pirelli ..
probably would have gone with continentals ..
( due to prev. experience with them on two wheels )
~~~~~~~
( link fixed ) be a poll regarding tyres ..

Continental Conti4X4Contact

you do realise that you'll get 50 replies with possibly 50 different recommendations. :rolleyes:

thanks for replies bit of a mine field as to what to go for think i'll go for 4 branded and then suck & see

have latitudes on mine, good as gold, well happy 40k plus and still loads of tread, very little road noise, plenty of grip in the snow etc.

As far as I can tell with road tyres, as long as you don't for for a budget brand you are ok.

Don't make the same mistake as me and fit cheaper tyres, what a mistake the noise and vibration were unbearable and lasted for almost a year until I had Pirelli Scorpion STR's fitted (4) what a difference they made no noise and no more vibration.

Got mine from www.mytyres.co.uk £554.40 fitted a very good service.

Just had 4 tyres from these folk Cheap Tyres Online | Professional Mobile Tyre Fitting | Event Tyres on t'other halfs XC90. They were the cheapest and you don't even have to leave the house. I seriously can't fault them.

As for the tyre recommendation I had these (Vredestein Wintrac 4) fitted to the XC which get really good reviews for wear and grip over on the Volvo forums.

On my Freelander I have these (Uniroyal Rainsort 2) fitted which have done about 8K miles and still look new and perform very well. The link points to the normal tyre but the SUV type I have fitted looks exactly the same.

Pirelli Scorpions and Michelin Latitudes were the LR recommended tyre. I've been putting Scorpions on mine and they do very well in the snow as I found out in 2009/2010
