I had 3 of my bfg commercials on defender 110 stabbed at the weekend*, - Front and rear nearside plus spare! leaving me with just the front and rear offside tyres inflated...although one of those has a nail stuck in it that I have been meaning to get fixed for a while…

I have ordered 4 new Bfg for the 'road' wheels and was thinking about keeping the best of the old as a spare, however looking at a new one with 10mm of Tread versus the best old one with 4-5mm of tread.... There appears to be quite a difference.

Would such a different tyre be any use as a spare or would it be more likely to cause damage should I ever need to use it? Versus the £150 for a fifth bFg....?

(*All done with a Stanley knife by the look of it and one of my wife's tyres too....But that's another story)

Thanks guys.
We gave CCTV footage of a furtive individual to the police following a break-in at a neighbours house…
They felt his collar and no doubt showed him the footage…
Which is why it was just the tyres on the 'blind' side of the cars that were damaged...

Unfortunately the camera covering the cars is some distance away…you can just about see that it is a person, not a tyre biting dog…

Which is what the bobbies would no doubt have tried to suggest..
